After Haas and Red Bull, Aston Martin is the third team to unveil the shape of a new monocoque for the 2022 season, but the biggest question is whether Aston Martin will be at least slightly more competitive. Needless to say, they’re on a very good path…

The Aston Martin AMR22 was unveiled today, February 10, at an event at the stable’s headquarters in the British town of Gaydon.

You can see the new monoposto in the post below, the biggest change being the replacement of the pink livery associated with former main sponsor BWT with lime green. The name of the new partner (Aramco) also occupies a relatively large area.

It is Aramco that is one of the biggest sponsors in Formula 1 and one of the biggest companies in the F1 world. Aston Martin has thus managed to get a really strong partner with whom they can easily set the highest goals in the future years.

This is a Saudi company, one of the largest and most famous oil producers in the world. Previously, this company has worked with the McLaren team, and there has been frequent speculation over the past year regarding their association with Mercedes.

However, as with Haas or Red Bull, this may not be the definitive version, especially in terms of technical parameters. Most of the teams are keeping their biggest weapons under tight wraps for now and it is possible that the car will look a bit different in the first race of the season.

However, apart from the new sponsor, Aston Martin has also undergone a few management changes, the biggest being the departure of Otmar Szafnauer, whose position has been taken over by former BMW Motorsport boss Mike Krack.

At the same time, Lawrence Stroll, head of the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team stable, is not afraid to speak out about his team’s ambitions.

“We are continuing our journey to the top of Formula 1. It’s the most prestigious and toughest racing series in the world and we want to win it, even though we know it won’t be easy. That’s why it’s going to be a gradual, five-year journey to the top,” said Stroll at the unveiling of the car, quoted by Motorsport.

As far as the colour combination is concerned, however, the design looks really beautiful so far. Bold ribbing, brighter colors and an overall aggressive design will likely make the AMR22 car one of the most beautiful in the entire starting field.
