Three doubles remain on fire! Czech Republic continues to nurture hope of success
Czechs are dropping out of the Australian Open like on a treadmill. But there are a few tennis players who are moving on, more precisely female tennis players. The best chance for success is in doubles, where three Czech pairs have advanced.
Czechs are dropping out of the Australian Open like on a treadmill. But there are a few tennis players who are moving on, more precisely female tennis players. The best chance for success is in doubles, where three Czech pairs have advanced.
First came the pair Bouzkova/Hradecka. The latter defeated Barova and Gorgodze on Wednesday and thus advanced to the next round.
She can look forward to Zadoinová and Eikeriová. Their clash will take place on Saturday morning. The other two Czech pairs will advance on Thursday.
Krejcikova and Siniakova are among the biggest favourites of the tournament, and the match looked like it. The Czechs moved off the court after less than an hour.
Kerkhoveova and Rodionova played only two games in the second set and finished the tournament. The Czech pair will play Adamczakova and Hanova in the next round.
The last pair to advance from the opening round is Martincova and Vondroušová. They were not favourites against Jurakova and Klepachova, but they managed to win the match and advance.
Their duel was two minutes longer than an hour, but after sets 6::4 and 6::3 it was over and the Czechs can look forward to the next match. That will come tomorrow, with Danilina and Haddad Maia as their opponents.
