Great news for the world’s top tennis players. The Australian Open Grand Slam in January will be played in front of packed stands thanks to a vaccinated population. There will be no restrictions on the capacity of the stands.
Until now, tennis players have had to make do with only a certain percentage of the capacity of the stadiums they play in. Often the stands were even closed completely.
The Australian Open, however, will offer players the opposite experience. Due to the high vacancy rate in the state of Victoria, where the Grand Slam will be held, state officials will not be limiting the capacity of the stands in any way.
This year’s event was held under particularly tightened sanitary conditions, and with a reduced number of spectators to boot.
This year, Novak Djokovic came out on top, winning the opening Grand Slam of the season for the third time in a row. In the final, he defeated Russian Daniil Medvedev 3-0 in sets.
The Australian Open will be held on 17 January. However, the problem is the visas, which only vaccinated tennis players can get. So it is likely that we will not see a couple of world-class tennis players at the tournament.
