Verstappen: My life won’t change much now. What did he reveal in the F1 interview?

After a very dramatic final, Max Verstappen and Red Bull ended Lewis Hamilton’s domination and became world champion. In a subsequent interview with F1, he admitted many things, such as that his life will not change dramatically now…

The first Dutch champion and the fifth youngest driver in Formula One history to celebrate winning the championship.

It should be noted, Verstappen has long stated that he doesn’t think his life (if he actually won the title) would change in any drastic way. And he has maintained that attitude even after securing his first crown in Abu Dhabi.

“No, it’s not going to change my life in any fundamental way. But of course I’m very happy to have won the championship. This is the last achievement I wanted to achieve in Formula 1, so whatever comes in the future will be a bonus,” Verstappen said in an interview with F1

With this victory, Verstappen has of course fulfilled his lifelong dream. He arrived on the grid of the queen of motorsport in 2015 as the youngest driver in the history of the dramatic series.

He was just 17 years old at the time when he first entered a Formula 1 race, still in the service of the Torro Rosso team (today’s Alpha Tauri – ed.). A year later, Verstappen became the youngest driver (he was 18) ever to win a Grand Prix.

Shortly after he stepped out of his car at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, he was seen sharing these very emotional moments with his father and former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen.

“It all flashes through your mind. The various trips around Europe (Verstappen is referring to the kart races at the time – ed.) when it all comes down to this exact moment,” he realises.

He also adds that his first goal, of course, was to win an F1 race, stand on the podium and hear his national anthem played. After that, however, he gradually tried to focus on winning the title, which he admits was not easy.

“Now it’s happening, I can’t believe it, it’s just crazy. To have all my close family, friends, dad, manager, girlfriend here, it’s something extra special,” admits the new champion.

Finally, Verstappen revealed that he was struggling with cramps in his leg on the restart. In his opinion, all the chaos, controversy and emotions have only underlined and summed up the 2021 season. ” It was crazy and absolutely unpredictable all the time,” Verstappen concludes.

We can definitely say that 2021 will go down in history as one of the most memorable seasons ever.
