Also on Tuesday, first round matches are scheduled for the WTA tournament in Ostrava. The most interesting one should be the duel between Angelique Kerber and Jil Belen Teichmann. Who will enjoy the victory?
Angelique Kerber is currently ranked 15th in the WTA rankings. This makes her the number six seed in the WTA 500 tournament in Ostrava.
The thirty-three-year-old German tennis player is currently in great shape. She reached the semi-finals of the tournament in Cincinnati. At the US Open, she was eliminated in the eighth round when she fell to the late finalist Leylah Annie Fernandez.
Her opponent in Ostravar Arena on Tuesday will be Jil Belen Teichmann, a 24-year-old tennis player originally from Switzerland. She is currently ranked 42nd in the WTA rankings.
Her biggest success in the current season is undoubtedly her final appearance in Cincinnati. Here the Swiss was able to cope with Osaka, Bencic and Pliskova.
So what to bet on? The paper favourite of the match is the German player, who has long been one of the top players in women’s tennis. However, this will be their first ever meeting.
Jil Belen Teichmann would love to add another triumph from the Czech Republic to her collection (the first one is from Prague in 2019). Therefore, we can expect an even match with a higher number of games.
