The US Open will be the first Grand Slam tournament where fans will return in full numbers after the global crisis. The American federation announced that 100 percent of the capacity of the auditorium could be filled this year.
Last year’s US Open was played in New York’s “bubble” without spectators because of coronavirus measures.
Without that restriction, this year’s event in late August and September will be the first Grand Slam tournament since the 2020 Australian Open.
Organizers of the tournament in Cincinnati are also expecting full stands, where this time the tournament will be played at its usual venue.
Last season, the tournament moved to the “bubble” at Flushing Meadows.
The last Grand Slam of the season will begin on August 30 and culminate on September 12. The title is defended by Dominik Thiem and Naomi Osaka.
