Sloane Stephens is currently ranked 59th in the WTA rankings. However, the twenty-eight-year-old American’s career high is the third position from July 2018.
In the first round, Stephens took on Carla Suarez-Navarro, who returned to the tennis courts after beating cancer. In the second round, the American knocked out Karolina Pliskova, who managed to play only six games.
Her opponent on Saturday will be Karolina Muchova. The 24-year-old native of Olomouc is ranked 19th on the WTA circuit. Only Petra Kvitová and Karolina Pliskova are better off.
In the first round of the French Open, Karolína Muchová defeated Andrea Petkovičová, whose first set was not enough to advance. In the second round, Muchova knocked out Varvara Lepchenko in two sets without much difficulty.
However, we can expect Stephens to be confident that she could take down our second player in a row. This would bring her closer to the second Grand Slam trophy in her career (she won the first one in 2017 – US Open).
Interesting odds of 1.58 on Stephens to win at least one set. However, it shouldn’t be enough to win.
