Kvitova on the flip side of tennis: We have no real life

In a recent interview with the BBC, Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová talked about the downside of life as a tennis star. She lamented that tennis players have no real life and making friends is almost impossible.
Kvitova states that despite some downsides of tennis life, she is not thinking about the end of her career. “If I don’t have the motivation to be the best, I won’t play. But it’s true that we don’t have a real life, we are always on the road somewhere, training and playing.”
The Czech tennis player notes that she doesn’t have much time for family or friends. “It’s hard to find friends, and I mean real friends. You can hardly find time for family,” Kvitova says.
The fact that the tennis star’s life is highly publicized doesn’t help.
“It’s not easy with us players, we fight our own nerves. We deal with the pressure of the public, being a celebrity is not easy. On the other hand, when you are a top tennis player, that’s part of it,” said the Fulnek native.
On the other hand, Kvitova definitely does not want to complain about her life. “I love tennis and I still want to play it and win big tournaments. I love it when I can be on the court, playing a match, being myself there,” added the Czech tennis player Petra Kvitová.
