I’m at the bottom, admits David Dvorak after his shocking loss in the UFC. I’ll keep working hard, he promises

If he was in an awkward situation before UFC 289, it’s hard to describe the present. David Dvorak unfortunately lost his third straight fight and has to chew defeat to debutant Stephen Erceg. After the fight, the Czech fighter admitted his disappointment.

David Dvorak was an unquestioned top ten UFC flyweight just yesterday. Had his opponent Matt Schnell not got injured, he could have fought to get closer to the top five. But that’s just a “if.”

Instead of Schnell, the Czech fighter was facing Stephen Erceg, who was about to make his debut in the organization. Dvorak had mostly nothing to lose, Erceg had everything to gain. Moreover, changing the opponent like this on short-notice? That can be a double-edged weapon.

It was confirmed. The undertaker was confident, but it is impossible to prepare ideally in eight days when changing the opponent, which is also typologically different from the original one. However, because of how much he had invested in preparation, he couldn’t afford to postpone the fight, even though the UFC was offering it to him.

And unfortunately, it “backfired”. Erceg started the fight well, he was better in the first minute. But otherwise Dvorak dominated the first round. He was a little better in the second. Until the fatal moment. The Aussie hit the Czech star hard, followed by a highkick that sent Dvorak to the floor and a guillotine hold.

The Czech survived the critical moment, but in the third round it was clear who had the upper hand. Dvorak couldn’t fully recover from the concussion, looking exhausted, and Erceg dominated. After all, thanks to a hard finish he won the second round for himself, and there could be no discussion about the third round in his favour.

So Dvorak lost for the third time in a row, and although Erceg may be talking about a sensational story and taking advantage of an opportunity, the Czech fighter is in a completely different situation that could potentially have a negative impact on his future.

Dvorak does not hide his disappointment

David Dvorak is extremely disappointed with the loss. He did not admit it to himself. He went into the match with a clear goal. To win. However, he is a great professional and it shows even after the unpleasant result.

“It’s hard to put into words how sorry I am about my next sporting setback. I apologize to everyone I let down. I sacrificed absolutely everything for this match, I was prepared the best in my career, we had the best camp, I didn’t underestimate a single detail in my preparation,” he expressed on social media.

“I worked like a horse and was committed to my dream. Unfortunately, despite everything I gave it, it was not enough and the opponent was better. Today I’m down but I still believe in what I’m doing. I believe in my dreams implicitly. I will keep working, improve no matter what it takes and get back on the winning streak,” he added.

In conclusion, Dvorak thanked all the fans and his team and family for their support.
