Bayer Leverkusen have won their last three league games, which has taken them from second to last place to twelfth under coach Xabi Alonso.
Bayer are also the fourth best team in the league under the new coach. One could almost say that it is a pity that the national break has come.
The Bayer players did not go on holiday, however, as they flew to the USA for a friendly against St. Louis City 2 to celebrate the opening of the new stadium.
Adam Hložek, who was nominated for the national team, also flew with the team, but the German club decided to exercise its right and did not let him go to the meeting.
Hložek started the friendly in the starting line-up, his teammate in attack was 17-year-old talent Zidan Setdemir, who has already made his Bundesliga debut in the past.
Swiss goalkeeper Roman Bürki and Czech midfielder Tomas Ostrák were also in goal. The central figure of the match was, however, the Czech playmaker.
Hložek assisted beautifully on the first goal by Calum Hudson-Odoi, who had no problem getting the ball into the empty net after his spectacular and especially effective pass.
He also managed to score his opening goal in the first half, in the 44th minute. Shortly after returning from the locker room, he added a second and Bayer eventually won 3-0.
