Walk vs. Teixeira the most useless rematch in history? Nobody wanted it, UFC did everything to avoid it, says legendary fighter

In December we will see the first title defence of Jiří Procházka. The Moravian fighter will fight again with Glover Teixeira, whom he deprived of the belt. However, according to legend Chael Sonnen, this is the least desired rematch in UFC history.
UFC 282 is coming and with it, Jiri Prochazka’s fight with Glover Teixeira. The Moravian fighter leaves for the United States on Wednesday afternoon and will spend the final weeks before the fight overseas.
The rematch promises to be a very interesting and attractive spectacle. After all, the first bout drew a great response and a lot of talk. Many fans admired what Procházka did, but many were also saddened by Teixeira’s loss.
The Brazilian asked for a rematch immediately after the fight, but it was not at all clear if he would get it. The UFC had other plans, and the Moravian had many other challengers for a change, whether it was Jan Blachowich or Magomed Ankalaev.
In the end, however, everything was arranged and on December 10 we will see the rematch, which the Czech Republic is looking forward to. What is surprising, however, is the opinion of legendary fighter Chael Sonnen, who had three unsuccessful title fights in the UFC, among others.
According to Sonnen, this is one of the most unwanted rematches in UFC history. “Management didn’t want it, you didn’t want it and the fighters didn’t do anything for it either,” BJPenn.com quotes him as saying.
While the American admits that Teixeira is a good friend of his, even that didn’t stop him from making his statement. “I’m talking about a title fight that nobody cares about and where the organization did everything it could to prevent it from happening,” he added.
According to him, the UFC did everything possible to make sure that Anthony Smith beat Ankalaev, or to make Ankalaev better known to the fans. However, it didn’t happen.
In any case, despite his words, Sonnen acknowledges that this is a great fight between two excellent fighters.
