Mourinho furious after losing points and taking another shot at his own side: one player ruined the whole game for us, he’ll have to find another club in January
José Mourinho is doing very well in the current season and his AS Roma are still in touch with virtually all the teams ahead of them apart from the dominant Napoli. It’s just that after losing to city rivals Lazio, another loss of points has come, which will probably cost one player his place at the club.
The game was already looking like a goalless draw when Tammy Abraham, who came on in the 66th minute, headed wide of goalkeeper Andrea Consigli’s net and things were looking very good for the visiting side as this result would have even meant a move into third place.
However, it was Andrea Pinamonti who was up against it, and five minutes later he equalised to make it 1-1 and send Mourinho into a whitewash. He then took his anger out on one of his players, as is his wont, but he was not specific.
“Our team wanted to win against a very difficult opponent, I’m sorry, but this effort was ruined by the actions of one unprofessional player,” the Portuguese coach told DAZN after the game.
It is difficult to say whether he was referring to the far-back Rick Karsdorp, who slept through Armando Lauriente’s run, after whose centre Pinamonti equalised, or whether Mourinho was bothered by the performance of another player.
“I’m not going to talk about who it is. I had 16 players on the pitch tonight and I liked the approach of 15 of them. One of them will have to find another club in January,” Mourinho concluded the interview. His words make it so clear that we may know more in January when the transfer gates open.
AS Roma, however, have been very unlucky this season with a number of key players injured. The trio of Paulo Dybala, Leonardo Spinazzola and Lorenzo Pellegrini would certainly help the team a lot.
Even so, the Roman side has been very successful so far. Mourinho’s charges will play their last league game of the year in three days against Torino. After that, a number of them will have a few preparatory matches, after which they will return to the Italian turf on 4 January, when they welcome Bologna.
However, that will probably not be the case for one player who was mentioned by Mourinho in the press conference. The Portuguese did not disappoint again!
