Friday’s preliminary match of the 13th round of the Bundesliga will feature Mönchengladbach and Stuttgart. Both were expected to perform better in pre-season, what to expect from their confrontation and what to bet on?
Mönchengladbach are not doing too well. They are without a win for four competitive matches and have also dropped out of the League Cup. They are in 11th place in the league table, but only three points behind sixth-placed RB Leipzig.
Stuttgart managed to win the last round and got out of the relegation zone. They are currently in 15th place, two points ahead of Bayer Leverkusen in the barrage and three points clear of relegation.
Marcus Thuram is having an excellent start to the season, the French international has scored eleven times and assisted three times. Captain and long-time mainstay Larst Stindl recorded two goals and six assists from the number ten position.
The visitors were paced by Silas, the Congolese winger split the net four times and added two goal assists. Hard-working defensive midfielder and team captain Wataru Endo has three shots, and given his form, he certainly won’t miss Japan’s World Cup nomination.
Mönchengladbach have been on a roll at home, winning three of their last four games on home soil and scoring nine goals in those matches. They beat two cup teams, Leipzig 3-0 and Cologne 5-2.
In addition, Stuttgart hasn’t won away from home yet. In their five league outings so far, they have only taken three points from three draws. On average, they have scored 2.4 times away from home.
Considering the home form of the colts and the individual quality of Thurram, who has not for nothing already proved himself in the France national team, I think that Monchengladbach will confirm the role of favourite and win.
