It’s shaping up to be an interesting transfer! Leverkusen is interested in Coufal, he will come to London to see the player in person
Will we see three Czech footballers running in Leverkusen? German Bayer is interested in right-back Vladimir Coufal, who belongs to English side West Ham. The reason for this is the disappointing performance of Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
Will we see three Czech footballers playing in Leverkusen? German Bayer is interested in right-back Vladimir Coufal, who belongs to English side West Ham. The reason for this is the disappointing performance of Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
In the jersey of Bayer Leverkusen we can currently see two footballers at right-back, namely Jeremy Frimpong and Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
The latter, however, is not performing as the management had hoped and Bayer decided to look for new reinforcements. According to Sky Sports, this could be Czech international Vladimir Coufal!
He could easily slot into the starting line-up, as new coach Xabi Alonso uses Frimpong often up the wing and Fosu-Mensah is only picking up minutes.
The 30-year-old Coufal has started fourteen league games for his West Ham side, and we could see him in the Hammers’ starting line-up seven times.
However, it must be added that his form so far this season has not been optimal, so the question is how the German outfit will decide after they fly to London at the end of the week to see the player in person.
If Leverkusen are happy with him and interested in buying him, the relatively high price tag could be a hindrance. Although Coufal has a contract until 2023, he has an option for a two-year extension.
We can only speculate about the amount, his value on Transfermarkt website is 9 million euros, he left Slavia for six million, so it will be around the first mentioned amount.
If the transfer happens and Coufal signs with Leverkusen, he will be the third Czech in their squad. It currently includes strikers Patrik Schick and Adam Hložek, the latter of whom scored his Bundesliga debut goal at the weekend.
