Xavi: Let’s meet in the cabin and watch Plzen. I might as well coach Viktoria, he laughed at the press conference
Viktoria Plzen is somehow a fateful opponent for Xavi. Why? The Catalan has coached 6 matches in the Champions League and won only once – against Plzeň. And now he needs help from Viktoria to fend off Inter Milan and keep Barcelona in the game for the eighth finals.
Xavi took over Barcelona last fall, so he has coached two games in the Champions League. He drew against Benfica and lost to Bayern, signing his name for relegation to the Europa League.
In the current season, he made a great start, beating Pilsen 5-1. But then came losses to Bayern and Inter, and a draw against an Italian side. The Blaugranas are thus in a very difficult situation, if they want to advance to the eighth round, they must beat both Bayern and Plzen, while hoping that Inter will lose against both Plzen and Bayern.
Barcelona fans have thus flooded the social networks of Viktoria, begging them to rob Inter of points. Barcelona coach, Xavi, also realises the importance of a bailout from his colleague Michal Bilek.
“We will meet in the cabin and watch the match. Against Bayern, we will already know if we can still advance,” Xavi said the match from 18:45 will be tuned in the booth at Camp Nou.
At the press conference, he found a moment of humour even in a difficult situation. When a journalist asked him what message he would send to the players of Viktoria Plzen, he answered in his own way.
“Do I have something to say to the players of Viktoria? All you had to say was this. I can go and coach Viktoria Plzen right now. That’s all I need. You think I don’t have enough?” laughed Xavi.
