The black horse of the Premier League? Newcastle resembles Leicester in its winning season. After demolishing Aston Villa, they’re hotting up their Champions League hopes

This is certainly not how Unai Emery envisioned his renewed Premier League debut. It’s just that Newcastle are currently like a steamroller that is struggling to stop. After the win over Aston Villa, Eddie Howe’s charges are once again glowing with the hope of finishing in the top four.

Newcastle were the more active team against Aston Villa from the start, but failed to score for virtually the entire half. That was only changed by Ashley Young’s handball, which resulted in a penalty, which was converted by Callum Wilson.

But if anything was worth it, it was the second half, in which Wilson scored again first in the 56th minute, who assisted Joelinton’s goal three minutes later.

That it was the 30-year-old English striker’s night was confirmed by the fourth goal, for which he didn’t put much effort in, but still got the assist. Miguel Almirón scored the goal with a beautiful shot. This goal is definitely worth watching!

Liverpool remain the only team to beat Newcastle this season. And that both Manchester teams, for example, have already tried to do it, but in the end they managed to grab just a point.

So the fans can continue to glow with excitement as the atmosphere at St. James’ Park was breathtaking. It was so reminiscent of Leicester’s winning season, riding a wave of euphoria.

The Magpies are only the 11th most valuable team in the English top flight in the current season, yet they are fighting at the very top and it doesn’t seem like anything is going to change.

Newcastle almost moved up to third place, but Tottenham managed to snatch a win against Bournemouth in injury time and still hold a two-point lead.

Moreover, Howe’s charges have a very favourable draw, as they face Southampton and Crystal Palace in the next two rounds. In their last game before the World Cup in Qatar, they will welcome Chelsea.
