Schick needs a break, Hložek needs to go! How do they react to another bad result?
Bayer Leverkusen suffered another embarrassing defeat. In front of their own fans, they lost 0:3 to Porto in the Champions League. They are running out of patience and are beginning to show their displeasure. They are also expressing themselves about Patrik Schick.
Bayer Leverkusen suffered another embarrassing defeat. In front of their own fans, they lost 0:3 to Porto in the Champions League. They are running out of patience and are beginning to show their displeasure. They are also expressing themselves about Patrik Schick.
Xabi Alonso may have enjoyed a successful debut as Bayer Leverkusen coach at the weekend, when his charges beat Schalke 4-0 in the league, but on Wednesday it was a return to reality.
The German side hosted Porto in the Champions League and crashed hard. They lost 0: 3, missed chances and even gave away a penalty. Patrik Schick confirmed that his scoring form from last season is not even on the horizon, but other stars are far from optimum performance.
No wonder the fans are running out of patience. After all, they got used to somewhat different standards last season. Beautiful goal scoring games, Leverkusen were also on the winning side in the vast majority of them.
So the supporters of a traditional club want to see changes. Most of them agree that Schick needs a break. Not perhaps because they don’t believe in his quality, but rather to give him a rest, especially mentally.
At the moment, the Czech striker is accumulating one bad moment after another and it is clear that he is not in an ideal frame of mind. He is not as confident as he was last year. After all, he didn’t take a penalty in the second game against Porto either.
And who should we replace him with? “I would put Adam Hložek or Adli. They may not be typical strikers, but they are more lively and the game could be more fluid with them. Patrik won’t bring us anything good in his current form,” one fan is clear.
There were more similar opinions on social media. But otherwise, the main target of criticism is Leverkusen’s disastrous defence, which really doesn’t look good. Not only this season, it was similar in the last one, where Bayer managed to outshoot their opponents, which is now passé.
