The fight between Patrik Kincelo and Karlos Vémola in the Oktagon 38 tournament is coming. It will take place at the end of this year and it will be the most expensive fight in the history of Czech MMA. How will the fight turn out? Petr Píno Ondruš came up with a prediction, having faced both fighters.
When Patrik Kincl defended his Octagon middleweight championship, it was pretty much certain that his next opponent would be Karlos Vémola. The organization officially confirmed their fight on Monday.
Their rematch will take place on December 30 at Oktagon 38, quite possibly the most expensive tournament in the organization’s history. Both fighters will take home the biggest payday of their careers.
Of course, who will hold the belt aloft after the fight? The bookmakers favour Vemola, but many combat sports personalities favour Kincla. That’s how Petr Píno Ondruš sees it.
“Unless Karlos plays some mental strings like he always does, I think there is no chance for him to win. Patrik is a class better in the stance, he will be weaker on the ground, but he is more technical. I don’t think there’s room for Karlos to smother him there.
But it’s a sport, something can always happen. The odds of Patrik losing are about 1 in 5. Patrik should have won four years ago. But if he wasn’t broken in the head, he would have beaten him.
Anyway, I think Patrik is ready for a rematch in the long run. He’s moved on a bit more, I think he won’t give him any chance to show his unfunny style,” Ondruš told Sport.cz.
“I’m unbiased, I’ve fought both of them, but I guess…I don’t know, I’m not going to wish that on anyone. But sportingly Patrik should win, that’s how it should be. The athletes should recognize that Patrik is the best fighter here,” he added.
So the question is whether the odds will soon tip the other way. After all, the public will give in to these opinions and quite possibly start betting on Kinceloe as time goes on.
