Strange rules in the Premier League: Rashford’s hand was whistled, but the penalty against Arsenal was not
The Premier League offered some interesting moments over the weekend, but also some controversial decisions. In particular, not many people understand why Marcus Rashford’s hand was whistled and not Gabriel’s.
The Premier League offered some interesting moments over the weekend, but also some controversial decisions. In particular, not many people understand why Marcus Rashford’s hand was whistled and not Gabriel’s.
Manchester United were losing to Everton at Goodison Park, but in the end Antony and Cristiano Ronaldo turned the game around.
Marcus Rashford could have added a third goal towards the end of the game, as he nicely worked his way through the Toffees defence. However, his joy was spoiled by VAR, which found a handball on his action.
But the replay didn’t reveal much. After Tarkowski’s slip, the ball flew from Rashford’s heel, across his stomach and up to his chin, but there was no conclusive shot showing Rashford’s hand.
Rashford had a goal disallowed by VAR, but Manchester United didn’t have to worry about it, they still won 2-1. However, this decision looks very controversial compared to what was not whistled in the Arsenal – Liverpool match.
Diogo Jota sent the ball into the box, Central hit Gabriel’s arm which was in a very unnatural position. However, the penalty was not whistled.
It looks very strange comparing the two situations.
