Chorý the fighter or Slovácko’s heartthrob. Which players deserved to be in the national team nomination?
The Czech national football team will play two matches in the Nations League in September. After Monday’s addition of three names to the squad, the nomination is complete, but which players are not in it, even though they deserved it?

Tomáš Chorý
He had a difficult task to replace Jean David Beauguel and he did it with all his might. Even though he is not as goal scoring as the Frenchman was, Plzeň has a better record with him on top than last year. In eight games, they lost only two points for the draw in Teplice.
Chorý has scored five times and assisted twice so far, but the national team could use a big hitter in the penalty area. There is no one else like him and he can make the game uncomfortable for the defenders.
Marek Havlík
You could say that Havlik’s devotion to Slovácko is returning this year. He’s finally playing European Cups, yet his career can be seen as having never made it to the national team properly precisely because he never moved up. That he was always loyal.
Slovácko play very decent football in the Conference League, Havlik is of course a big part of that. He doesn’t have the numbers, but that has to do with the fact that Slovácko finishes their goals via the wings, as Martin Svědík doesn’t field classic spike strikers.
In any case, Šilhavý doesn’t even have a midfielder similar to him. If he is ever given a chance, it will be this autumn.
Luděk Pernica
The crisis in the centre of defence is obvious. Tomáš Kalas, Tomáš Petrášek and Tomáš Holeš are not available, so the management team has resorted to nominating Milan Havel or Ondřej Kúdely, who is finishing his career in Indonesia.
Kúdela is a proven quality, but he could have been hunted in better competition. Lukáš Hejda has already declined to represent, but why wasn’t Pernice called up? He may have a speed deficiency, but he is the only defender available to play in the Champions League this year, experience that would be very useful in such important games. Too bad, maybe in November…
