Chimaev is a rat! He hasn’t imposed and hasn’t fought fairly yet, UFC stars criticize him after crushing win over Holland

While he has a tremendous talent, his behaviour doesn’t win him many fans. And it won’t be any different after UFC 279. On the contrary. Khamzat Chimaev put on an absolutely sovereign performance, but he didn’t exactly show the spirit of fair play.

Chimaev? Wrestler of the Week

Khamzat Chimaev was the clear underdog of the week. At least in the world of combat sports. And it might not just be the week. After all, the UFC had a lot of problems that needed to be addressed.

He and his team had their first ever press conference cancelled. This is because there was a scuffle with the team of Nate Diaz, who he was supposed to face at UFC 279, and Kevin Holland.

Subsequently, the Swedish fighter was brutally outclassed. He missed weight by almost four kilograms. Diaz refused the fight because of that. And for an undefeated talent to make a fool of himself? Oh, no. After he came off the scale, he said it wasn’t so bad. He even joked on social media afterwards.

Mostly because of Chimaev, most of the main card then had to be rebuilt. Nate Diaz ended up fighting Tony Ferguson, who was scheduled to face Li Jingliang.

The Chinese fighter ended up fighting Daniel Rodriguez, who was supposed to challenge Kevin Holland. And it was Holland who was left to take on Chimaev, with the two being long-time rivals.

In the fight, Chimaev certainly didn’t improve his image

Chimaev went into the fight with Holland as a big favorite. After all, the way the UFC handled the whole situation was criticized by Conor McGregor. According to him, the native of Chechnya won over the organization all along the line. Why? He didn’t make weight, he laughed at everyone and everything, and he took on a lighter opponent. The Irishman warned the UFC that other fighters can take a page from Chimaev’s book.

And then when it came to the fight, there were boos the whole time. From Chimaev’s entrance to his exit. And how did the fight actually go? Quickly. Holland wanted to high-five Chimaev after the fight started, but the Swede was unfair. He signaled a high-five and the American got caught.

He got a takedown. He was able to stand up from it, but Chimaev was stuck on him until the end. That practically lost Holland any chance to fight at all in the standup, where he’s definitely stronger than on the ground. He tapped out after two minutes.

Lightweight fighter Matt Frevola commented on Chimaev’s behavior in the fight. He even called the Swede a rat. Frevola’s words were described as fact by UFC welterweight fighter Terrance McKinney.

And there were more similar reactions. According to famous fighter Megan Anderson, Chimaev doesn’t even deserve the title if he’s going to promote himself in this way.

After all, he didn’t even win over the fans with his post-fight interview. He refused to address the weight, and pretty much the only message he gave was his famous “I kill everybody”.
