A shameful incident from Class 1B. Referee was punched, threatened with a knife, Chodov fans wanted to kill him

An extremely shameful incident was witnessed in Prague’s 1.B class over the weekend. The match between Chodov and Klánovice had an aftermath that the main referee Matyáš Hanzlík will surely never forget.

You wouldn’t have thought it would be a heated match from the result. The visiting Klánovice scored 6 goals in the first half, the home team only reduced the score to 1:6 in the 44th minute.

“Typically, these matches are tense due to the large number of home spectators, moreover, 2 inexperienced referees were assigned to the 6th round match, which resulted in rather heated situations during the whole match,” Klánovice wrote on their website in the match report.

“A couple of controversial decisions by the main referee fired up the home players and fans, which carried over into the second half. The first 10 minutes of the second act were not played so much. The fouls and the referee’s decisions were certainly questionable, but the standard was set equally for both teams and the referee’s decisions did not interfere with a single goal in the match,” Klánovice said.

But the home fans were not interested. Because what the main referee and his colleagues had to go through after the match was almost hell.

” You’re a real dick! You’re such a bitch, you can’t whistle.”

The referee’s report

“When the referees were leaving the field of play, they were rudely insulted by the spectators and one of the spectators tried to get in the way of the referees just before entering the dressing room and rudely insulted them’You don’t know who I am?’ He repeated it several times and when asked by the DFA who he was, he replied.

“Then, outside the door of the booth, the delegate was physically attacked by a fellow spectator who was standing by the “chairman” and was forcibly pushed into the referee’s booth and the door was slammed behind him. Since the organizing service was completely out of order and not present at all, the referee and the delegate were protected by a random colleague of the referee Císař,” Hanzlík continues to describe the situation.

“The referees then locked themselves in the booth to prevent further possible assaults. After leaving the booth, club president Miroslav Hlinka said to the delegate You’ve shit yourself, haven’t you?’,” the referee adds and starts describing the worst experience.

The lynch alley

“We were then told by the main organiser that the nearer goal was closed and that we had to go through the goal on the other side. The way to this gate led past the booths and the local canteen. Here we found an “alley” of local spectators and players. At first one of the spectators kicked me in the leg, which I managed to withstand, but when I turned around, I was unexpectedly punched in the nose,” Hanzlik recounts.

“In the same hand, this spectator, who was probably already drunk, had a glass pint glass, which he originally tried to hit me with. He then poured beer on me. One of the spectators had a knife in his hand and manipulated it threateningly while looking at the referee. Those involved in this incident shouted at me that they were going to kill me, that they knew where I lived and so on,” the young referee describes the unpleasant experience.

“The main organizer said to the DFA: ‘Get out of here or they will really kill you here, they are capable of it”. Outside the venue, he then took off his organizer’s tag and threatened the delegate I can do anything to you now that we’re outside the field!’ He was about 10 cm from the DFA’s head with his head, and he was constantly poking us in the back,” Hanzlík notes the organizer’s inappropriate behavior.

“He accompanied him like that all the way to the supposedly locked goal. When we got to our cars, we noticed that the main gate was normally open all the time and it was just a kind of trap from the main organizer. He then confirmed it when he ironically said.
