Chelsea’s owner is once again a laughing stock. After ignorance of his academy, Klopp ridiculed him over all-star game

Until now, Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly has been somewhat secretive, but now he’s starting to show his face. First he drew attention to himself with the not-so-understandable sacking of Thomas Tuchel, then he showed his ignorance about his academy and now he has come up with a proposal that has been laughed at by Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp.

When Chelsea were taken over by American Todd Boehly, most fans questioned how much the American actually understood football. The principles of the sport in the US and Europe are completely different.

Moreover, he did not help himself at all with his statement about Chelsea’s academy. “Look at what the Chelsea academy has produced: Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne,” Boehly let himself be heard.

But I guess no one told him that these are definitely not Chelsea offspring. On the contrary, both arrived at Stamford Bridge as talented players, but they didn’t get the space they needed, the Blues got rid of them and they became some of the best players in the world elsewhere.

Boehly has stirred up more emotions with his proposal, he would like to stage a match between the North and South of England in the Premier League, modelled on overseas competitions.

“People keep talking about the football pyramid needing money. I think the Premier League could learn a lesson from American sports in that respect. Baseball’s MLB made $200 million on two days of the All-Star Game. I think a North versus South game like that could be done here,” Boehly allowed himself to be heard.

But in the Premier League’s busy schedule, that’s not very welcome. Even Jürgen Klopp has spoken out against the idea.

“Well, it didn’t take long. When he finds a free date for his game, he should call me,” Klopp didn’t understand. “He obviously doesn’t realise that in America, unlike here, competitions have four-month breaks, so they like to play sports on the side. What’s next? Will he ask us to play the Harlem Globetrotters?” added the Liverpool coach.

Moreover, he doesn’t like the idea of mixing players from rival clubs. “Does he really want guys from London clubs playing together? Or players from Manchester United, Everton, Liverpool and Newcastle?” klopp doesn’t understand the suggestion.
