Leicester failed to win their seventh league game, losing to Tottenham 6-2. According to The Telegraph, the Foxes’ management is running out of patience with Brendan Rodgers and a change in the head coach position could soon take place. Who is the most talked about?
Leicester’s problems are well known to all fans. Rodgers couldn’t stomach the fact that the management didn’t give him the means to fill the squad properly and, moreover, sold some key players.
Even so, the 49-year-old coach has the 9th most valuable squad (€454 million) in the Premier League, which is definitely not the last league position, where they are currently with one point.
This rancour is getting to be a cause for concern and it is questionable whether Rodgers can finally get his players to start picking up points. Meanwhile, they have a great opportunity to do so in the next league round when they face Nottingham, the second weakest team.
“We were punished for our mistakes. I asked the players to fight bravely and with courage. But in the second half we scored early on to make it 3-2 and Lloris made some great saves. At 4:2, the game was already open,” Rodgers commented to Sky Sports after the game on his team’s defeat.
The Foxes’ coach had to comment on the current situation as well, as he is facing a lot of pressure from all sides and his job is hanging in the balance.
“It has created a lot of pressure on me. Every day I get up and try to do my job. But we have to start winning. I understand the frustration of our fans, I can’t hide behind anyone, it’s my responsibility,” Rodgers said.
However, there is already speculation that the Leicester management is clear that the team needs a new impetus, which should be a new coach. The main candidate for this post should be Thomas Frank, who is doing great at Brentford. But of course, nowhere is it written that the Danish coach wants to leave the so far very successful project of The Bees.
We are now due for our first representative break, which is traditionally a time for the management to assess the performance of everyone at the club. There is therefore a strong possibility that Rodgers will part ways with the Foxes.
It is all the more unfortunate that last weekend’s game against Aston Villa, which was supposed to be a stepping stone to a winning streak that would have taken Leicester out of the relegation places, was cancelled.
