The yellow submarine is definitely not going down. Unaia Emery’s charges are the only ones in the Top 5 leagues not to have scored yet this season

Villarreal players are having a good start to the season. After three rounds, they scored two wins and one draw, and they also successfully managed to qualify for the European Conference League, where they knocked out Hajduk Split after a double-header. Villarreal players are having a good start to the season. After three rounds, they scored two wins and one draw, and they also successfully managed to qualify for the European Conference League, where they knocked out Hajduk Split after a double-header. They continued their good start in round four, when they beat Elche 4:0. What’s more, in the league season Villareal is the only team among the Top 5 leagues that hasn’t scored yet.

Unaia Emery’s charges have started the season on the right foot. The team that finished seventh last season is currently in third place. Just a point behind Barcelona and two points behind the still-standing Real Madrid.

The yellow submarine managed to win two matches, losing points only in a goalless draw at the ground of Getafe.

They went for their third win with a comfortable and dominant victory, beating Elche. After goals from Gerrard Moreno, Giovani Lo Celso, Francis Coquelin and Jose Luis Morales, the scoreboard showed a 4-0 score at the end of the match.

Apart from the win and settling for third place, Villarreal can be particularly pleased that their opponents did not get a shot on target. Not conceding a goal has been the key to this team’s success so far.

In four league games so far, Geronimo Rulli has not had to fish the ball out of the net even once. They remain the only team in the top 5 leagues that has not scored in the league season.

Their only goals came in the first match of the Conference Europa League qualification, when they beat Hajduk Split 4:2, then went on to win 2:0 in Split.

Unai Emery and his squad have had a good start to the season and will be looking to build on that in the first game of the new Conference Europa League season when Lech Poland visit Spain. They will then try to go one more league game without conceding a goal at Betis.
