Prague Slavia will start their journey through the group stage of the Conference Europa League on Thursday. The first match will be played in Turkey, where they will face Sivasspor. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say at the pre-match press conference?
The group stage is here and Slavia is already in Turkey to play Sivaspor. The latter hasn’t tasted the feeling of winning yet this season.
In the top Turkish league, after five games, they have only three points for three draws, and in the Europa League they fell twice to Malmö, which caused them to be relegated to the EKL. But according to the coach, nothing easy awaits the Slavs.
“Sivasspor is a team that is strong mainly in the offensive part. They have two tall players in the penalty area that we have to watch out for. They are more vulnerable defensively, we will want to take advantage of that,” Trpišovský said at the press conference.
He and his team now have to think about the lineup and it’s not exactly ideal. Due to roster spots, Václav Jurečka, among others, cannot be available and injuries will keep other players out.
“We will decide the line-up taking into account Sivasspor’s typology and style of play. We are limited by the health of Yira Sor and other offensive players, but we will manage somehow. Ondra Kolar has problems with his cervical spine, he hasn’t been able to train. Ondra Lingr and Eduardo Santos also have problems,” he added.
Despite these problems, Slavia will be the favourites in the match. After all, according to all predictions, they should dominate the group, which would help the coefficient considerably. The match starts at 9 pm.
