A very interesting transfer has taken place in women’s football. A record-breaking one. But if you think it’s in the millions of euros or pounds, you’re wrong.
Barcelona have brought in English midfielder Keira Walsh from Manchester City. The 25-year-old has one year left on her contract with the English club and has spent eight years with the Citizens.
Walsh was not absent from this year’s European Championship, which England managed to dominate in front of their home fans at Wembley. Now the Englishwoman has become the most expensive female footballer in history.
She went from Manchester City to Barcelona for a record 400 thousand pounds, or about 11.3 million crowns.
Walsh plays as a defensive midfielder. She is going to Barcelona together with her more famous compatriot Lucy Bronze, who also left Manchester City.
Until now she held the record transfer sum in Chelsea women’s football. The latter paid £250,000 for Pernille Harder in 2020.
