How’s the coefficient? The Czechs are thirteenth and are close to securing the Champions League group stage!
The heart of a Czech football fan rejoices. Plzeň, Slovácko and Slavia will play the group stages of the European Cups, thanks to which we have already risen to thirteenth place in the coefficient. What is the situation now and can we go even higher?
The heart of a Czech football fan rejoices. Plzeň, Slovácko and Slavia will play the group stages of the European Cups, thanks to which we have already risen to thirteenth place in the coefficient. What is the situation now and can we get even higher?
After each round in European competitions, the Czech football public discusses the coefficient according to which teams are seeded in the following seasons.
After Viktoria Plzeň’s promotion, Slovácko and Slavia also performed well, so we will have three teams in the group stage. Thanks to this we are already in thirteenth place ahead of Russia!
How does it look now? Let’s start from 11th place, where Serbia resides. It has Crvena Zvezda in the EL group stage and Partizan in the EKL. Both teams are in the first basket, the Serbs have 28,875 and catching up will not be easy at all.
However, 12th place is more realistic, plus it should mean a team in the LM regular group! Norway has 26,750, with Bodo/Glimt in the third basket in the EL and Molde in the second basket in the EKL.
We have 26,550, so we are only 0,200 points short! In 14th place are the Swiss, they have Zurich in the fourth basket of the EL and Basel in the first basket of the EKL. Their point total is 26.425.
Fifteenth-ranked Russia is now out of the cups, so we go straight to sixteenth-ranked Ukraine. The latter has Shakhtar in the LM, Dynamo Kiev in the first basket of the EL and Dnipro in the fourth basket of the EKL. Plus, they have 25,700 points, so they’re a great competition.
Next are Greece with Olympiakos in the EL, Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb in the LM and Denmark with Israel. However, these countries are quite distant, so we will include them in the competitors ranking when they get closer.
