UEFA traditionally announces the best eleven of the season, which for many years has included two of the best players of all time, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, both have had a poor season in their own way and so are missing from the 11 chosen.

Although the best eleven of the season will not be announced until Thursday at a ceremony, the Spanish newspaper MARCA already knows it in advance. And it will look like this.

Thibaut Courtois – Real Madrid

In goal, no one can argue. Courtois has had the year of his life, saving Real Madrid several times in the Champions League and virtually single-handedly dragging Los Blancos to the trophy in the final against Liverpool. Currently the best goalkeeper in the world.

Trent Alexander-Arnold – Liverpool

Liverpool’s right-back maintained his high standard last season. He makes up for any defensive shortcomings by helping out on the offensive end, where he racked up a tally of 3 goals and 19 assists last season. He reached the Champions League final with Liverpool.

Antonio Rüdiger – Chelsea

The German defender has had a great year and has been one of the best stoppers in the Premier League and indeed the world. He transferred to Real Madrid in the summer.

Virgil Van Dijk – Liverpool

Virgil Van Dijk had a great year too. He won the FA Cup and EFL Cup with Liverpool, reached the Champions League final and fought for the Premier League title until the last round.

Andy Robertson – Liverpool

Liverpool dominated the defence according to UEFA. Andy Robertson was included on the left flank and he racked up a 3+15 record and was also a big part of the Reds successful season.

Fabinho – Liverpool

Here UEFA, somewhat surprisingly, reached out to Liverpool again. Yes, Fabinho also had a quality season, but there would probably be other candidates other than the Merseyside team.

Luka Modric – Real Madrid

The immortal ruler of Real Madrid’s midfield. Even at 36, Luka Modric has dominated Europe and fans couldn’t stop marvelling at his performances in the Champions League. He was also key in the turnovers against Manchester City, when he crossed for Benzema’s second goal, and against Chelsea, when he found Rodry with an incredible shot.

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City

De Bruyne has always been a renowned assist man, but he added goals last season. He helped the Premier League title with a 15+8 record, added a 2+3 record in domestic cups and added 2 goals and 4 assists in the Champions League. This brings the total to 19+15.

Kylian Mbappé – PSG

Mbappé helped PSG to another Ligue 1 title with 28 goals and 17 assists. He scored 6+4 goals in the Champions League and added 5 more in the Coupe de France.

Karim Benzema – Real Madrid

Absolute winner. Karim Benzema should win the Ballon d’Or according to the experts and fans, he was the main driving force behind Real Madrid’s quest for the La Liga and Champions League titles. The Frenchman netted a staggering 44 goals and added 15 assists.

Vinícius Junior – Real Madrid

If Benzema is the king, then Vinícius is the prince. The Brazilian youngster has been Benzema’s court passer and has finally shown his full potential. Moreover, at the age of 21, he decided the Champions League final with a single goal. In total, he has 22 goals and 16 assists.
