On Thursday, Slavia will face Raków Częstochowa in the first match of the fourth round of the Conference League. Zdeněk Houštecký reveals what to expect from the Polish opponent and how the match might look like.
Raków beat Slovak Trnava in the third round of the Conference League, first winning 2:0, then 1:0. Slavia again went past Panathinaikos.
In name, the Polish team is more viable than the Greek one, but in performance it is not. Raków is a very dangerous opponent that will test Slavia.
“Raków plays a lot of defence, they usually play in a 5-4-1 system, they defend very well in the block and they thicken the space in front of their own net, so they don’t score many goals. Their defenders are strong, so they are excellent in header battles,” assistant coach Zdeněk Houštecký told Slavia TV.
Trpišovský’s implementation team left nothing to chance and traditionally prepared their charges for the video.
“We have seen the opponent on many videos, we had scouts there, so we have detailed information. There are also Czech players playing in the Polish league, and we have consulted with them,” Houštecký reveals.
And what kind of match can we expect? In the first match with Panathinaikos we saw a big advantage of Slavia, the Greek team came to Eden to defend the draw. In the rematch, however, the picture turned and it was Panathinaikos who had the upper hand. How will it be with Raków?
“It will be a big fight and conquest, it’s their style, they don’t go for big combinations, they don’t hold the ball much, they rely on solid defence and going into quick counterattacks,” Houštecký explains the Polish team’s style of play.
