Nordic clubs won their Champions League play-off matches on Tuesday, Rangers drew at home to PSV

The Champions League qualification phase has moved into the final round 4, which was played on Tuesday by six teams. All three matches kicked off at 9pm. The second half of the opening play-off matches will take place on Wednesday, when Viktoria Plzen will also enter the fray at Karabakh’s ground at 18:45 before the gates of qualification to the main groups.

Rangers FC – PSV Eindhoven 2::2

PSV Eindhoven arrived at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow and the Dutch side managed to open the scoring in the 37th minute. After a corner kick, the ball was played to Teze, who crossed it to Ibrahim Sangare in the penalty area, who managed to beat goalkeeper McLaughlin.

Rangers, however, managed to equalise three minutes later. From the right side of the box, Tavernier sent the ball to the onrushing Antonio Cholak who sent a low shot towards the left post beyond the reach of goalkeeper Walter Benitez.

The latter picked a weak moment in the 70th minute. Tom Lawrence took a direct free kick from long range, and although his bouncing shot went into the gloves of the Argentine keeper, the ball eventually went over the bar.

It was not a decisive change in the score, however, as Armando Obispo equalised eight minutes later to make it 2-2. His header after a corner kick and with the help of a rebound off the crossbar ended up in the Scottish net. The tie lasted until the final whistle, so the game in Eindhoven promises to be an interesting battle for promotion.

FC Copenhagen – Trabzonspor 2::1

In Copenhagen, Trabzonspor did not start very well. Already in the ninth minute they were down by a goal when Viktor Claesson scored from penalty distance after working with Rasmus Falk.

The Danish side also made a good start to the second half. Three minutes after the change of sides Biel played a corner kick, Vavro extended with a header and Lukas Lerager scored.

The Turkish side improved their performance in the following minutes, which they managed to convert into a reduction in the 79th minute. Tasos Bakasetas’ shot was kneed in by Copenhagen defender Chocolava and goalkeeper Ryan was unable to react. The match in the Danish capital ended 2-1.

FK Bodø/Glimt – GNK Dinamo Zagreb 1::0

The third Champions League playoff match on Tuesday was played in Bodø, Norway. The home fans were able to rejoice in the 37th minute thanks to a successful header attempt by Amahl Pellegrino. Five minutes later, his teammate Salvesen also hit the crossbar with a header.

The following run did not bring another goal despite chances on both sides. Bodø/Glimt will therefore take a narrow one-goal lead into the rematch on the hot Croatian soil of Dinamo Zagreb.
