Newcastle United is currently the richest football club on the planet. However, despite this, it is not buying for astronomical sums or looking for a new star coach. On the contrary. The 44-year-old Eddie Howe has earned their trust.
When he arrived at Newcastle, it was November 2021. The club was 19th in the table, five points behind the relegation places and the overall picture was not looking rosy. However, it took only 11 games for Eddie Howe to lead the Magpies to 11th position.
Of course, thanks to some smart transfers made by the North of England outfit. There were some interesting reinforcements that fit perfectly into the system that the 44-year-old English coach instilled in the team.
Even now in the summer, Newcastle have brought in some interesting players. There was a lot of talk about a star coach taking over the team. However, the opposite is true. Howe has been given a vote of confidence and signed a new contract on Friday.
Howe was under contract until the summer of 2024. However, he has now signed a long-term deal. Although the club did not disclose the length of the contract, it is still an interesting signal and great news for the skillful coach and the club’s fans.
“I am extremely proud to be the coach of Newcastle United. I’m enjoying every moment here. I would like to thank the coaching staff, the staff, the players and the fans. They make this a special place where I want to be every day,” the budding coach told the club’s website.
Among other things, Howe thanked the club’s owners for even offering him further cooperation. He believes that the second half of last season was just the beginning of exciting times that fans can look forward to at St. James’ Park.
