Los Angeles FC dominates Major League Soccer and nothing will change after the next round. This time, the Californian side played Real Salt Lake and won 4-1. Gareth Bale also scored a goal and the legendary Giorgio Chiellini played a volley.
LAFC is making amends for last season’s failure. After 23 games, they have 51 points, a 48::24 record and have lost only four games. It dominates the entire MLS, which it leads even with fewer games played, ahead of Austin by 6 points.
On Saturday night, the team from California scored its fifth win in a row by beating Real Salt Lake 4: 1. The first goal came in the ninth minute. The legendary Giorgio Chiellini, the former Juventus stopper, started the match in the starting line-up.
And it was Chiellini who was responsible for one of the most entertaining moments of the match. In the 69th minute, he misjudged the bounce of the ball, which went under and he had to save the situation with his hands. He received a yellow card, but prevented a possible counter-attack.
Moreover, in the 73rd minute the Italian veteran went for a substitution, so he did not have to regret the yellow card.
Gareth Bale scored his second goal in his new job with a solo effort from halfway across the pitch. The question is whether the defenders should have been more vigorous in trying to stop him. Either way, the Welshman proved that even at 33 years of age he is a quality footballer.
