We recently reported that Brazil was hit by the murder of 33-year-old jiu-jitsu fighter Leandro Lo. The legend of the sport was shot in the head by a police officer at a concert in Sao Paulo over a trivial dispute over a bottle of alcohol.
Hours later, he lost his biggest battle with life. The gunshot wounds were incapacitating. According to eyewitnesses, the person suspected of the shooting was police officer Henrique Otávio Oliveira Velozo.
After committing this heinous act, Velozo fled the scene and hid in an unknown location. However, MMA Junkie server has come forward with information that the police officer has now turned himself in after a warrant was issued for his arrest. He is currently waiting to testify in court.
According to the new information, Velozo was supposed to kick the fighter twice more in the head after the aforementioned shooting before running away. This was not the first time the 30-year-old police officer had been in trouble with the law.
In 2017, he was reportedly serving a six-month jail term for assaulting a colleague at a nightclub. However, he escaped punishment. The sad news shocked not only the whole of Brazil, but also the entire martial arts world.
Leandro Lo was indeed a legend of the sport. In his storied career, he defeated such names as Gordon Ryan, Andre Galvao, Gilbert Burns, Felipe Peña and others.
