However, the reason is quite simple and also logical. Sainz is an honorary member of Real Madrid. He only wanted to keep his loyalty to the royal club, which he clearly demonstrated with this gesture.

Not surprisingly, tennis player Rafael Nadal, for example, is one of several athletes who maintain a certain respect for the club of which they are members. Signing a Barcelona jersey would thus contrast strongly with his interests.

Sainz is currently facing the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, which will take place this Sunday, July 31. It will be the 13th race of the Formula 1 season and his team has a lot of catching up to do.
