The Bundesliga is back. The first round kicks off on Friday. The competition has undergone many changes. Offensive stars like Robert Lewandowski and Erling Haaland have left. So it’s interesting to see the betting odds on who will be the top scorer. Patrik Schick is often the favourite. How is he doing?
Schick has had a great season, can he build on it?
Bayer Leverkusen have had a successful season. They qualified for the Champions League, were one of the most attractive teams in the competition and scored goal after goal. One of the offensive driving forces was Patrik Schick, who was the second top scorer in the Bundesliga.
While he can partly owe a lot to the fact that Erling Haaland didn’t play much due to injuries, the Czech striker himself didn’t play full minutes and had great numbers. But it wasn’t enough for Robert Lewandowski.
Nevertheless, Schick broke several Czech and club records. He signed a new contract at the club and will be looking to build on his successful year. This could be possible, as Leverkusen have not sold any of their mainstays. Another successful year can be expected.
Will he be top scorer? The bookmakers believe him
Robert Lewandowski has left Bayern Munich, Erling Haaland has left Borussia Dortmund. Of the trio that dominated the Bundesliga scoring statistics last season, only Patrik Schick remains in the competition.
The Czech striker is understandably among the bookmakers’ favourites to dominate the scoring charts in the new season. In five of the eight bookmakers that have listed odds, Schick is the biggest favourite.
All eight bookmakers are clear that Sadio Mané and Christopher Nkunku will be vying for the goal scoring crown alongside Schick. Nkunku will be third in the standings according to the odds, only Unibet believes him to be second.
Schick is the odds-on favourite with WSN, Unibet and Sporting Index, while Mané is the same odds-on favourite with Bwin, BetVictor and Pari Match. William Hill and Bet-at-home believe in Mané’s dominance.
