Walk vs. Teixeira 2? UFC boss responds to Prochazka’s request. I love this approach, says White
Jiri Prochazka, as the UFC welterweight champion, has asked for a rematch with Glover Teixeira. However, it is not clear if it will happen. UFC boss Dana White had earlier named another challenger. But now he has responded to the request of the Moravian fighter and it seems that its hearing is not unrealistic.

Procházka wants to show why he is the champion
Jiri Prochazka put on an outstanding performance in his title fight with Glover Teixeira. Or at least a really attractive one. Their fight ranks as one of the best title fights ever. But the Moravian fighter was very self-deprecating after the fight.
The Brazilian called for a rematch immediately after the fight. However, Jan Blachowicz also asked for a fight, Magomed Ankalaev also took on the Moravian champion. It was expected what plans the UFC would have and what Prochazka himself would want.
Procházka has come to a decision that now says a rematch with Teixeira is the best option. “My performance in the first fight was bad. Now I want to show why I’m the champion. Clearly and unquestionably. I think Glover deserves a rematch,” he let his voice be heard on social media earlier.
What does White have to say? The plan was different, but…
UFC boss Dana White had a slightly different plan earlier, however. Magomed Ankalaev has long been in contention for the title. He’ll face Anthony Smith this weekend. White said if Ankalaev wins, he’ll be the next title challenger.
But now he’s spoken out about Jiri Prochazka’s request. “Honestly? We really like the idea of a rematch between Prochazka and Teixeira. I have a lot of respect for Jiri. He and Glover have a literal war behind them and yet he says he wants a rematch. I not only like the idea, I love it. I love when a fighter has that in him,” White admitted in an interview with Yahoo Sports.
In closing, White added that he’ll see how this all plays out. However, it seems like a rematch later in the year could actually work out. In order for Ankalaev to factor into that, he’ll likely have to put on an extremely dominant and attractive performance against Smith.
