Another financial injection for Barcelona. The sale of Barca Studio has cost hundreds of millions
FC Barcelona has sold a quarter of its production company Barca Studio. This will cost the club 2.5 billion crowns, which will allow the club to register new players.
FC Barcelona has sold a quarter of its production company Barca Studio. This will cost the club 2.5 billion crowns, which will allow the club to register new players.
The Catalan club has been considerably active this transfer window despite having faced considerable financial problems in the recent past. The club has seen the arrival of big-name stars such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen and the most recent acquisition Jules Koundé.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta is tackling the club’s financial crisis by selling out. He sold the aforementioned part of his subsidiary Barca Studios to the socios.com platform.
Barcelona no longer owns even 25% of its Spanish league TV rights, which were bought from it for €667 million by Sixth Street for the next 25 years.
A financial injection of this magnitude should guarantee compliance with the Spanish league’s financial rules, allowing new acquisitions to be registered. “If we add up all these sums, which represent a considerable income, we should be able to register new players,” said club president Laporta.
Barca could try to raise another large sum of money by selling nearly 50 percent of Barca Licensing and Merchandising, the club’s retail and marketing organisation.
