Slovakian Slovan Bratislava are celebrating their progress to the second round. After a disgraceful goalless draw with Dinamo Batumi at home, it looked like a penalty shootout in the 120th minute at 1-1, but Vladimir Weiss scored a goal straight from a corner kick in stoppage time to decide Slovan’s progress.
Norwegian Bodo Glimt came close to an unexpected end. After a clear home win 3::0, the Faroe Islands struggled, Klasivik led 2::0 and then 3::1, missing the extra time by a single goal. In any case, the Norwegian favourite goes further.
Surprisingly, it was Cluj that got the end of the Champions League. In Yerevan they drew 0:0, in the return leg after 120 minutes the score was 1:1 and it went to penalties. The Romanian team missed two, while Pyunik did not make a single mistake and can celebrate their progress.
Lech Poznan, after a 1:0 home win over Karabakh, completely burned out in Azerbaijan and after a 1:5 loss, are out of the competition. In the second round, Plzeň will play Helsinki, who eliminated Riga from Latvia on penalties.
The favourites, namely Shkupi of Macedonia, Zalgiris Vilnius of Lithuania, Sherif Tiraspol of Moldova, Shamrock Rovers of Ireland, Dudelange of Luxembourg, Malmö of Sweden, Ludogorets of Bulgaria, Maribor of Slovenia, Ferencváros of Hungary and Linfield of Northern Ireland, have also advanced.
