Pilsen welcomes Czech National Cup, winner gets a ticket to the Champions League
After the peak of the national competition of the regional associations, the Super League of small football, comes the decisive moment of the season for the clubs. The participants of the Czech National Cup in small football, which hosts Pilsen on Saturday, will fight for the title.
Twenty-four clubs from all corners of the Czech Republic will clash at the Prokopávka Sports Complex from 9am. “Compared to last year’s edition, we want to take the Czech National Cup one step higher, hosting it in a brand new multifunctional complex in Plzeň,” said Jan Pinkava, executive director of the Association of Small Football of the Czech Republic and president of Plzeň Small Football, which co-organises the event.
Of course, there will be a lot to play for in western Bohemia. It’s not only about the Czech club championship, but also about the European Cups. “We haven’t found out yet how many places we will get, but we are definitely guaranteed one in the Champions League, which will be in Montenegro, and one in the EMF Eurocup in Hungary,” said Pinkava.
The best teams can look forward to financial rewards for the Czech National Cup, the winner will receive twenty-five thousand crowns, the second fifteen thousand and the third ten thousand. In addition to the classic cups and medals, the most successful will also receive sports equipment.
Participation in the Czech National Cup is based on success in the regional league or cup. Twenty-four teams were divided by lot into six groups of four, with the top two teams from each group and the top four from the third-placed teams advancing.
