Who was interested in Hložek this summer? Dortmund, Bayern, Lyon, but also Arsenal and Newcastle!
Adam Hložek is no longer a player of Sparta Prague, but of Bayer Leverkusen. However, everything could have been different, the offers were just pouring in and the player could choose from the big clubs or take the offers that ensure the highest salary. Now his father has described the negotiations.
Adam Hložek is no longer a player of Sparta Prague, but of Bayer Leverkusen. However, everything could have been different, the offers were just pouring in and the player could choose from the big clubs or take the offers that ensure the highest salary. Now his father has described the negotiations.
The summer transfer of Adam Hložek has been known for some time. The talented footballer already wanted to go abroad and there were only negotiations about where.
Various clubs were mentioned in the rounds, but the player finally agreed with Bayer Leverkusen, where Patrik Schick also plays. The level of the club, the work with youngsters and even the person of Schick were the reasons why Hložek did not prepare elsewhere.
There were offers, and plenty of them. Now his father, Zbyněk Hložek, who sacrificed a lot for his son’s career, spoke about them in an interview with iSport.
“There was Newcastle, which was financially somewhere else. Lyon, Sevilla, Dortmund, Bayern… However, we wanted to give the next step some sense, so that we didn’t immediately jump to a mega-club,” he said.
Hložek made no secret of his affection for Arsenal, who were also interested in him. However, at the time, negotiations with Leverkusen were already advanced.
“When Leverkusen was almost baked, we found out about a huge intervention from Arsenal. But the negotiations were already very far advanced. Borussia Mönchengladbach did the same, they spoke to Adam personally twice in the spring. They were excited about him, but they didn’t have the financial strength,” he added.
There were also interested parties from Italy, and from the very top. But it has to be said that the Leverkusen option looks like a very good choice so far. So there is nothing to do but wish Hložek well.
