Many expected Chelsea to go downhill after the end of Roman Abramovich. But the new owner wants to build a team full of stars that could aspire to all the trophies. What would a squad with possible reinforcements look like?
Cristiano Ronaldo would clearly be the best signing. One of the best footballers in history wants to leave Manchester United and a shock transfer to the Blues is getting closer and closer every day.
In addition to that, Raheem Sterling will almost certainly be heading to Stamford Bridge, with only the final amount to be sorted out, Chelsea are already agreed with the player.
These would be two huge reinforcements in attack that would further elevate Thomas Tuchel’s team. On top of that, there is a lot of talk about the arrival of Matthijs de Ligt, who would in turn strengthen the back line. What could the Blues starting lineup look like in the new season?
Mendy
R. James – de Ligt – Silva – Chilwell
Kovacic – Kante
Mount
Havertz – Ronaldo – Sterling
Chelsea would have several players available for rotation, Jorginho in the centre of midfield for example, Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech or Christian Pulisic in attack.
This team would surely be among the main favourites to win the Premier League and possibly the Champions League. And the south London club is still negotiating the arrival of Raphinha from Chelsea, who would also increase the offensive strength.
