A goal unheard of – that’s how Hernández’s performance in the 37th round of the Italian Serie A could be interpreted.
The Rossoneri were playing an important match at home in the title race. In order to stay in control, they had to beat Atalanta Bergamo at home, which AC Milan managed to do thanks to a great save by Theo.
The 24-year-old French defender won the ball on the edge of his own penalty area, evaded every Atalanta player, set up his firing position perfectly and sent his shot uncompromisingly into the bottom right corner of the opponent’s goal.
It should be noted that this is not the only reason why Hernández’s market value has skyrocketed. It currently stands at €55 million, and the Marseille native has been one of the Rossoneri’s biggest stars all season.
In the colours of AC Milan, he played in 32 league games in the 2021/22 season and, in addition to six assists, he also scored five goals! This too proves why the quick-footed left-back is an integral part of the Rossoneri’s line-up. Add to that a solid technical ability and a great overview of the game.
In that game against Atalanta, Theo did not score until the 75th minute, while another AC gem Rafael Leao opened the scoring less than 20 minutes earlier. Milan managed to win the match (2: 0) and in the last game of the season at Sassuolo they only needed a draw to win the Scudetto.
However, after a great performance especially in the first half, the Rossoneri beat Sassuolo 3:0 and became Serie A champions for the first time in eleven years.
