The biggest transfer of last summer? Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United would be worth mentioning, but no. What nobody expected happened. Lionel Messi has left Barcelona for Paris.
Fans were excited to see what he could do alongside stars like Kylian Mbappé and Neymar. Besides, it only raised expectations from PSG, who were already looking to finally clinch the Champions League title.
The Champions League may not have worked out, but the star trio of Messi, Mbappé and Neymar entertained football audiences across the world.
Although the Argentine had one of the worst seasons of his career in terms of goals and his numbers were not that great, he is one of the highest rated players in Europe.
Mbappé was PSG’s most productive player, but he could have been much more productive. Unfortunately, he burned several chances that the legendary Argentine created for him.
And although Neymar didn’t always play at his best, he also managed to conjure up literally magical moments.
In total, the star trio scored 63 goals, with Neymar, Messi and Mbappé scoring a combined 49 assists. While they didn’t play the most games together, they did show plenty of moments where they made football look like the easiest thing in the world.
