Lucie Pudilova returns to the UFC after two and a half years. The most prestigious MMA organization has given her a second chance to show what she’s made of. When can we look forward to her next fight and did she expect to be back so soon?
It’s been more than five years since the young twenty-two-year-old Lucie Pudilova first showed her face in the famous UFC. Back then she had a 6:1 record, which she made worse with her first fight.
She won her next two fights, but after that she suffered four defeats in a row and as expected she was not offered another contract. “I was angry, there was a time when I told myself not to be there anymore, not to fight in the UFC. I wanted to go to a Czech organization.
I didn’t want to make the situation easier for myself, but I was angry, I didn’t understand why I was getting such tough fights. If I was doing well, why am I getting losses?” she said in an interview with Kaocko.cz.
Her end in the UFC came at the beginning of 2020, at the end of the same year she already showed under the Octagon banner. She fought six times there and won five fights.
“I’m more experienced, I’m able to guard my positions better, I know what the points are for, I have more insight. It’s not just about swinging my arms anymore, it’s not just about fighting. I didn’t know what to do before. It must have been age, I was learning, and a younger person has a hot head, he goes head to head,” she added.
Did she believe in her comeback? “Yes. But I didn’t think it would be this soon. I wanted to go on a winning streak. The UFC told me that if I can do this, I’ll be back. I thought it would take one more fight,” she explained.
Pudilova is now training in Ireland, where she is also staying, or rather sleeping, in a gym. She is now thinking about buying a car and after a few fights in the UFC, the all-important housing will come next.
When will we see her fight in the UFC? That’s the question, still nothing officially announced, but it should be later this summer.
