The Czech national football team defeated Switzerland on Thursday, bringing them closer to salvation in the elite group of the Nations League. But now it’s on to a tougher opponent in Spain.
“I am happy that the mood in the team is good after the win against Switzerland. But we are playing fast behind, we have to prepare for the next opponent. We have to fully concentrate on Sunday’s game.
The boys take such matches as a holiday, thanks to matches against such opponents the players can only grow,” said coach Jaroslav Šilhavy at the press conference.
The Czechs have been unbeaten at home since their defeat to Brazil. That will be the goal now as well, as Jakub Jankto spoke about, although the coach preferred to be more cautious.
“Jakub spoke with a lot of confidence, but that doesn’t mean we won’t appeal to the players not to be afraid, because that would be a negative emotion. On the other hand, it is clear that we are not going to have an easy time at all because the Spaniards are playing very well, and on top of that they have added young talented players to the team,” he added.
Ladislav Krejci Jr, who has been ruled out due to a knee injury, is no longer in the team. Ondřej Kúdela, on the other hand, arrived at the meeting and caused a stir because he was not even on the list of substitutes.
The coach admitted that besides Krejci, there will probably be two other changes in the lineup. The match against Spain is played today, Sunday, June 5, starting at 20:45.
