Kylian Mbappé and his future will no longer be speculation. In fact, the French gem has extended his contract with PSG. However, this does not please the Spanish league management, which intends to resolve the situation.

The topic, which has been annoyingly discussed in recent days, has now been resolved. At least partially. We can now announce with certainty that Kylian Mbappé has signed a new contract with PSG, which should keep him in Paris until 2025.

The club made the announcement on Saturday evening on its website and social media. Club boss Al-Khelaifi is understandably delighted with the deal.

“This is an exceptional moment in the history of our club. This way we can continue our fantastic adventure, we are about to write the most beautiful pages of our club history,” Al-Khelaifi told the club’s website.

There was no hiding satisfaction from Mbappé, who is confident that he can grow with the Parisian outfit at the club. “I am also happy to continue to develop in France, the country where I was born and grew up. I thank the club for their understanding, trust and patience,” he let slip.

La Liga objects to the contract

By keeping Mbappé in Paris, the Spanish top flight must come to terms with the fact that the expected increase in interest in Spanish football, and with it financial growth, remains a pipe dream.

La Liga, however, is not letting this go. The outrage is great and, according to the leaders of the Spanish competition, PSG threatens the economic stability of European football and is as dangerous as the planned Super League.

In addition, they say the extension of Mbappé’s contract threatens hundreds of thousands of jobs and the integrity of football not only in European but also in national or state competitions.

La Liga has already once arranged for financial sanctions to be imposed on PSG for breaches of financial fair play. And it promises to take action now.

“State-owned clubs do not respect and do not want to respect the rules of football. Rules that are key to protecting and sustaining hundreds of thousands of jobs. The behaviour displayed by Al-Khelaifi, president of PSG and member of the UEFA executive committee and president of the ECA, threatens European football as a Super League,” Goal quotes a statement from La Liga.
