Robert Lewandowski’s link with Bayern Munich will probably not be valid for much longer. The Polish striker is on his way out and there is speculation about his transfer to Barcelona. But why is Lewandowski leaving? His agent is clear on that.
Many Bayern fans were hoping for Robert Lewandowski to call it a career at the German club. According to available information, the Polish striker himself had initially planned to do so, but the situation has turned around and Lewandowski is parting ways with Bayern.
He is expected to head to Barcelona in Spain. But why is the striker leaving the club where he spent the vast majority of his career and where he was the number one striker? His agent, Pini Zahavi, is clear.
“Robert is a very intelligent person, he’s not just the best goal scorer in the world. He knows very well what is going on around him and what Bayern intends to do with him,” Zahavi said at the beginning of the interview, according to Tribuna.
According to Lewandowski’s agent, Bayern’s efforts to sign Erling Haaland are behind the decision to leave. “Robert knew that Bayern wanted to replace him with Haaland. Erling’s father finally confirmed it to me in a personal conversation. There are no secrets in football,” Zahavi explained.
Bayern’s management does not want to give up its striker so easily, and has even sent out a message to the world that it expects Lewandowski to stay at the club until the end of his contract. His contract expires next year.
“Of course Bayern can keep Lewandowski for one more year, after all he has a contract until 2023. But I wouldn’t recommend it. For Robert Lewandowski, Bayern is history,” concludes Mini Zahavi’s agent sharply.
