Real Sociedad have an important Europa League match on Thursday, when they welcome Cadiz at home. The visitors are also motivated, as they are only three points behind the relegation zone. What to expect from the match?
Sociedad are not doing too well, they have taken two points from the last four rounds and have definitely lost their Champions League hopes. With three rounds to go, they are primarily aiming for the Europa League, five points behind fifth-placed Betis with a game to spare.
Cadiz, on the other hand, have won twice and drawn once in their last four games. Thanks to this, they have climbed out of the relegation zone, currently three points ahead of eighteenth-placed Mallorca. They will want to get at least a draw against Sociedad, as Real Madrid will face them in the next round.
In the absence of the injured Mikel Oyarzabal, Alexander Isak, author of nine goals and three assists, is the home team’s mainstay. Norwegian Alexander Sörloth has seven goals and one assist.
Álvaro Negredo is the sharpest in the Cadiz jersey, the experienced striker and former Spanish international boasts a 10+5 record. Honduran forward Choco Lozano has scored six times and assisted four times.
Sociedad have not fared well at all offensively with Oyarzabal injured, scoring more than one goal in only one of their last eight games.
On the other hand, Cadiz’s attack finally started to work at the end of April, with their players scoring six goals in the last three games.
Considering the Isak factor, who regularly decides games with his individual quality, I think Sociedad will win. Moreover, it has lost only one of its last eight league games at home.
