Václav Černý was injured last season when he was probably in the best shape of his life. He has been back for a while now, but he waited 18 competitive games for his first goal after the injury.
The Czech skilful winger signed for Twente before the start of last season, but first went on loan there. He was given space and trust at the club and he was able to repay it to the maximum with his performances.
Last season, Václav Černý played 17 competitive matches, scoring 6 goals and adding 7 assists. Moreover, his performance made the club management to buy him permanently.
But in January 2021, he was injured in a match against Ajax. Unfortunately, it was his knee that took the hit and he was treated for about 10 long months. It was clear that he wouldn’t get back to the form he had before the injury right away.
Moreover, Twente were in no hurry to get him. On the contrary. Cerny was not overworked, he was put into action gradually. After all, the fact that he started 19 games and was in the starting line-up only three times is a testament to that.
However, it is also true that the club from Enschede is experiencing a successful season even without any significant help from Cerny. Twente will be in Europe next season and Cerny will definitely want to play first team. He will therefore do his best to get back into the lineup over the summer.
Now every good moment is important for him. And on Wednesday, he got the best one since his return from injury. His goal, his first since his return, helped Twente to a 3-0 win, which means the aforementioned promotion to the European Cup.
the 24-year-old Czech technician, who was brought up in Ajax Amsterdam, has 1 goal and 1 assist this season. However, he has only played around 500 minutes in 19 duels. He is still under contract at the club for next season.
